				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recently, we had the privilege to speak at a seminar to students from the graduating class of 2013 at the Miami International University of Art and Design.</p>
<p>During the seminar, many gave their words of wisdom to those students that were about to embark on the next stage of their lives&#8230;a career.  But before they find themselves working at their dream job, the sometimes dreaded job interview needs to be faced head on and conquered.</p>
<p>Let’s face it, looking for a job is a project in itself and takes a whole lot of time and effort.  If you have already landed a job, you already know this and most likely, you have a few tips of your own.  We’ve also been there, as the interviewee and interviewer.  So we hope a few of our own job interview tips will help any of you that may be looking to land your first, second or third job.</p>
<p>But first, we want to thank the Miami International University of Art and Design for educating and giving the tools to their former students who are now designers at The JLS Agency.  They are currently working their magic and creating amazing projects for our clients.</p>
<p>It means a lot to us to be able to work with young, local talent.  They are innovative, think outside the box, and can produce mainstream art.  They are bringers of new and fresh ideas to the table – that’s what we like, and other businesses like too. Without further ado, here are our two cents on how to get to your goal of landing a great job.</p>
<p>1.      Timing is Everything. You may have a list of companies that you really want to work for, but unfortunately, not all have current openings.  Instead of losing valuable time by sending your resume to a company that is not going to acknowledge your resume, send your resume to a company that has similar job opportunities and values.</p>
<p>2.      Keep it Professional. Stick to professional standards of applying for a job.  If you want to be creative and make your resume stand out, create a professional portfolio that highlights your work in a professional and engaging way, have this ready in both print and online format.</p>
<p>3.      Be Presentable. You can be polished, stylish and add a little bit of “you,&#8221; if applying to work at an agency many can be more on the casual side of &#8220;business casual&#8221;, use your best judgement though depending on the type of business you are applying for, large corporations may be more dressy.  The first impression you make on a potential employer can make a big difference.</p>
<p>4.      Research, Research, Research. How much do you know about the company that just contacted you to schedule an interview? It should be plenty, and all the information you need is available online. It&#8217;s important for employers to know you care enough to have done the research about the company where you want to work.  It shows you are taking things seriously and care about your future.</p>
<p>5.  BE YOURSELF        Be honest, be genuine during your interview, we think most all employers will appreciate this.</p>
<p>Earning the job you want will be challenging and some of you may feel outside your comfort zone at times, but with perseverance and a proactive attitude, you will get there.  Keep applying, send thank you notes (preferably a hand-written one to each person that interviewed you) and follow up.</p>
<p>Once you land that dream job, keep working hard, continue to learn, ask questions, and success will follow!</p>

<p>I’m sure that along with a new and <a href="http://www.thejlsagency.com/services/mobile-development/">improved image</a> comes some high tech software. Therefore the iPhone 5 is fully loaded with the new iOS 6 along with 4G LTE network. Don’t be fooled, not only is Apple releasing the iPhone 5 in the near future, but make sure to be on the look out for the NEW iPad Mini and iPad 3. Apple always has us at the edge of our seats, what will they come up with next?</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When one has a little bit of nostalgia from the Olympics literally after less than 24 hours of their closing, the first and normal reaction that one will have is to of course look at the entire collection of the Olympics&#8217; <a href="http://www.thejlsagency.com/services/branding/">logos </a>from 1896 to 2012, right?  Anyways, whether this reaction is normal or not, when all of these logos are seen from oldest to newest,the first question that possibly comes to one&#8217;s mind is how did we arrive to today’s neon-colored, <a href="http://www.thejlsagency.com/services/web-design-development/">modern</a> logo? But then, if more time is spent on analyzing this symphony of logos, more questions will start to arrive to one&#8217;s head, such as:</p>
<ul>
<li> Are the logos supposed to symbolize sportsmanship?</li>
<li>Or perhaps, are the logos supposed to highlight positively the country where the olympics are being held and its political views?</li>
<li>Or maybe, will marketing get involved and relate the logo to everyone so that the entire <a href="http://www.thejlsagency.com/services/web-design-development/">world&#8217;s</a> population watches the Olympics?</li>
<li>Or possibly, is the logo supposed to do all of this at the same time?</li>
</ul>
<p>There are many questions to be asked; yet there are not so many answers. However, what is very clear is that marketing and advertising absolutely play a big role on the image of this event. The Olympic logos indeed looked very different before Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and P&amp;G started being the Olympics&#8217; official sponsors.</p>

<p>Creativity can be promoted in a gazillion of ways, which is why Zara, the clothing company, took the initiative this summer and decided to <a href="http://www.thejlsagency.com/services/web-design-development/">create</a> an art gallery with the unusual creations of the Canadian artist, <a title="Aaron Moran" href="http://aaronsmoran.com/">Aaron Moran</a>, to promote art, crafts and creativity. The <a href="http://www.thejlsagency.com/services/tv-video-production/">project</a> is called “By/A Project About Collaborations.” The artist utilizes wood from dismantled old houses and slices them into different shapes and figures to unite them once again, resulting in modern, abstract and majestic sculptures.</p>

<p>Has sending e-mail or writing a blog really become so tedious, that we need something a little more “fun” to write with? Certainly, you can draw pictures and send them by letter in the mail, but when is the last time you sent a letter in the mail? When is the last time (if you’re not a creative mind) you drew a picture? With new <a href="http://www.thejlsagency.com/our-work/#">animated</a> fonts,  Jeroen Krielaars hopes the typography enthusiasts will enjoy this new fad a little more than basic live fonts given by Apple. The word is animography, folks and you had better catch on quick if you want to make it in this evolving type-world. Animography typefaces are much more complex than what designers may be used to. Starting as Adobe After Effects files, the fonts can be tweaked in terms of color, wiggle, style, line thickness, duration, and much more. The key is <a href="http://www.thejlsagency.com/services/web-design-development/">creating</a> a font that doesn’t look like it’s been seen a thousand times. Will animography take on the world one animation at a type…er, I mean time? Probably not. 				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Unsure of what to do with your old Xbox 360?  If you’re like me (a hoarder) you just can’t sell something so precious and meaningful. I mean, think about the first game you ever played on it! Sure, it’s been sitting on the living room floor for five + years, but you still can’t give it up. Why not make it into an aquarium? Blue World Aquariums, known for selling everything from actual aquariums to the fish that live inside, created their newest edition inside an old Xbox 360.  The 6” long,  8” tall salt water tank is made of glass and full of fish, corals, crabs, and shrimp. A wireless remote controls the color-changing aquarium. Now that’s innovative.</p>
