Luminous Field

Cloud Gate, the centerpiece of the AT&T Plaza in Millennium Park, Chicago, is transformed.

Cloud Gate, the public sculpture found in the center of Chicago’s Millennium Park, has been transformed for the first time into an artistic display of lights, and sounds. Known as “The Bean” to locals, the sculpture and the surrounding area will be illuminated with dramatic images and colors set to music composed by Owen Clayton Condon for ten days.

This creation was designed by the Chicago-based artistic ensemble Luftwerk, the artistic collaboration of Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero. Taking advantage of the sculpture’s reflective properties, the duo projected video and light creating an immersive sculptural experience for the public.
